CALL FOR PAPERS
For the 12th Bi-Annual In-House Review
of IIT's Research and Development (R&D) projects
This is to inform all the Deans and Directors of all academic units that the OVCRE is once again accepting papers for this year’s 12th Bi-Annual In-House Review (BAIHR) in November 2014.
The Deans and Directors are also urged -- in light of the Institute’s policy towards the appreciation of researchers and their works -- to encourage all Institute-based researchers under their respective units to present their research outputs (completed/ongoing and thesis/dissertation-based) to the Department of Research (DR), OVCRE.
To facilitate the conduct of the BAIHR, researchers are to follow the guidelines below:
- Only R&D projects conducted in the last three years shall qualify;
- Follow the NOMCARRD paper presentation format;
- Schedule of submission:

Submission of paper abstract, six (6) hard copies and one (1) soft copy | October 20, 2014 |
- No paper shall be allowed for presentation without submission of soft and hard copies, whether competing or not; and
- There shall be no extension for the deadlines set for submission of requirements.
The BAIHR is 缅北禁地-IIT’s way of collating and evaluating all its research outputs for a single year.
Selected entries shall see publication in special issues of the Institute journals – Mindanao Forum and the Asia Pacific for Science, Mathematics and Engineering; as well as enjoy IIT’s endorsement (a pre-requisite) for participation in all national and international R&D forums.

GUIDELINES
I. OBJECTIVES
- Provide a forum for the discussion of R&D project results and findings.
- Evaluate R&D Projects in accordance with their respective objectives and approved program of activities.
- Review initial activities of new projects with emphasis on the research methods/procedures against the attainment of project objectives.
- Identify problems met during project implementation and pursue specific courses of action in accordance with the recommendations of the evaluation panel.
- Identify potential technologies for assessment especially those requiring field-testing, verification and piloting and possible classification of technology status.
- Identify significant results/information for policy formulation and development planning of the Institute and/or other concerned agency.
- Identify new researchable areas.
II. RULES
- The competition is open to all Colleges and Schools covering completed, on-going and new (initiated within the year) R&D projects.
- Nature of R&D covers all areas of specialization in the natural, applied and social sciences.
- Categories are:
- Research (on-going and completed)
- Development
- Thesis and Dissertation (Graduate and Undergraduate)
- Technical Posters
- Only R&D projects conducted in the last three years which have not been entered in previous BAIHRs and/or NOMCARRD R&D Symposia will qualify for presentation.
- The following schedule applies:

III. WRITTEN PAPER SPECIFICATIONS
- Papers should follow the NOMCARRD paper presentation format (available at Department of Research Office).
- Text font to be used should be Arial, not smaller than size 10 characters per inch including those in graphs, tables, charts and labels.
- Paper used should be short bond (8 1/2" x 11").
- Paper should include abstract of not more than 250 words and total pages should not exceed 20.
- Paper/s should be submitted in six (6) hard copies and one (1) CD.
- Submitted entries shall be screened based on compliance to the specifications stated above.
- Poster size is 40" x 30".
IV. PAPER PRESENTATION
A. ORAL
- Oral presentation shall be for 15 minutes. A timer shall be utilized to prompt presenters 5 minutes before time will expire.
- There will be an open forum to allow time for clarifications and questions thrown by the panel of evaluators and the audience if time permits.
