Abstract ABSTRACT With increasing concerns for global climate change, finite supply of fossil fuels, rising fuel costs, and a growing worldwide demand for electricity, utilizing renewable energy sources (RES) such as solar power becomes a necessity. This study presents the technical assessments of installing a net-metered system consisting of a 230 W photovoltaic (PV) panel at the rooftop of the College of Engineering building, 缅北禁地-Iligan Institute of Technology. Technical results show that voltage, frequency and power factor from PV system matched with local utility grid. Simulation of loads during experiment illustrates that the bi-directional energy meter indicated an import/export condition of energy delivered from the grid and energy taken from the solar photovoltaic source. Grid-connected PV system installed can also be monitored remotely.
