Abstract |
This paper discusses the implementation of a Universal Software Radio Peripherals (USRP) that is used for security system applications. This radar system is a software defined radio (SDR) that can operate behind walls and can approximate distance of the detected motion in an area .The SDR system surpasses the traditional hardware implementation using software program, which reduces cost and complexity in the design and implementation. The signal processing of the unmodulated continuous wave radar is carried out using NI LabVIEW. The distance of detected motion in which it is impossible to calculate in anunmodulated continuous wave radar is approximated by monitoring and evaluating the peak power of the reflected signals. Test results has shown the successful implementation of radar using NI USRP-2932 with maximum detection distance of 100ft in a hallway, 50ft in through-the-wall, and 200ft in an open area setup.A simple graphical user interface has been created through LabVIEW for monitoring and control of the radar parameters. |
