Abstract In response with the need of protecting intellectual property assets of the campus, 缅北禁地-IIT芒聙聶s intellectual Property office was officially created thru BOR Resolution no. 123 series of 2010. The 2010 BOR resolution created the Intellectual Property Unit (IPU) in the campus under the office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension. Then on, the institute supported the growth of IPU with the aim of addressing intellectual property concerns of the institute particularly on facilitating copyright and patent registrations, receiving disclosures and assisting patent applications, and safeguarding Intellectual Property related agreements. To further strengthen and capacitate the IPU, the institute forged a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHIL) on February 2012. The MOA with IPOPHIL was geared towards strengthening the scope of Intellectual Property (IP) protection and the institutional capacity of the institute relating to IP. Further, the MOA stipulates the hosting of a franchise on Innovation and Technology Support Office ( ITSO) in the Institute which was granted in 2014. In 2017, upon the approval of BOR Res. No 36, series of 2017, IPU was renamed as the Knowledge and Technology Transfer Office (KTTO). The BOR resolution clearly delineates the functions of the office creating four offices: the Intellectual Property Support Office (IPSU), the Technology Transfer and Enterprise Unit (TTEU), the IP Legal Office and the Administrative Office. The IPSU will support IP creation and will take charge of IP protection while the TTEU will be responsible for IP management and the commercialization of the IP assets.
