| Abstract |
This paper highlights the need for effective and sustained use of local knowledge in
peacebuilding. It proposes that the language of belonging and social cohesion is love and care.
We propose that a care and love lens helps us to reframe our understanding of everyday peace. It
presents a richer picture that also tackles the complex and contradictory nature of social
cohesion involved in everyday peacebuilding. Care generates chances for peaceful
transformation by settling disagreements over immediate care needs and increasing community
capacity in ways that gently challenge the fixity of conflict. |
