Conducts proper laboratory testing of various samples of raw materials, in-process goods, and finished product.
Success in this role will require you to fulfill the following responsibilities:
- Performs laboratory tests on all incoming/in-process/outgoing products, after sales products/technical samples, marketing samples, and chemicals as per American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) methods or as per documented procedure and instruction
- Analyzes, reports, and logs laboratory test results, referring to the Philippine National Standards (PNS) /Quality Formulation Manual/Quality Manual for conformity to product specifications vs Analyzes, reports and logs laboratory test results
- Reports all test results to the Quality Control and Product Development (QCPD) Manager and coordinates, in the absence of the latter, details of sampling and test results to the Production Supply Supervisor
- Approves Product Transfer/Blending Formulation Forms and approves or reject products/ raw materials with reference to Product Specification (PNS)/Quality Formulation Manual/ Quality Manual
- Performs research and laboratory experiments as required, following appropriate documented procedures and instructions
- Keeps abreast about latest the technology related to petroleum products or new products to increase efficiency and productivity of the Quality Control and Product Development unit (QCPD)
- Prepares and standardizes laboratory chemicals and reagents to be used in tests and experiments
- Sorts, monitors, and updates retained samples with regard to types and retention periods
- Assists the QCPD Supervisor in updating and maintaining the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) documents, 5S+1 documents, and other laboratory-related documents
- Coordinates, in the absence of the Quality Control and Product Development (QCPD) Supervisor, all testing requirements necessary to conduct and complete the tests with third-party laboratories, for services that cannot be conducted at the SEAOIL laboratory due to absence of testing equipment
- Searches for prospective suppliers of laboratory instruments/equipment to make the laboratory more capable of testing procedures recommended by the Philippine National Standards (PNS) and/or American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM)
- Prepares and files laboratory reports for traceability
- Performs in-house calibration of laboratory equipment periodically to ensure accuracy
- Conducts periodical housekeeping of the laboratory room in compliance with 5S+1
- Monitors preventive maintenance and calibration calendar of laboratory equipment and glass wares, and ensure that they are conducted by accredited service provider as scheduled.
- Performs other related functions as may be assigned from time to time.
Preferred Qualifications for this Role:
- Must be a graduate of BS Chemistry or Chemical Technology
- Licensed Chemist or Licensed Chemical Technician
- At least 1 year of relevant experience; background in petroleum industry is an advantage
- Must possess basic laboratory skills, and adept in the use of laboratory apparatus
- Must have basic knowledge and understanding of Philippine National Standards and ASTM for petroleum products
- Knowledge in ISO 17025 accreditation is an advantage
- Willing to do field work
- Willing to work on weekends and holidays, when necessary
Expectations from Candidates:
- Candidates who are invited for HR screening will need to undergo and pass an online exam and/or technical exam, and accomplish HR documents, personality tests, and essay exams before proceeding to the HR interview.
- Candidates who pass the HR interview would then need to submit soft copies of their available pre-employment requirements, such as the Transcript of Records, Diploma, and NBI clearance. The complete list will be provided by the recruiter.
