The College of Health Sciences Library, formerly known as College of Nursing, now College of Health Sciences Library (CSHL), was formally launched in June 2009. Located at the fourth floor of the SET building, its service to clients started from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM with one professional librarian and two student assistants manning the daily library operations. The basic book collection only had a total of 1,710 volumes which was primary books on anatomy and physiology, nutrition, medical-surgical nursing, fundamental of nursing, pharmacology, pathophysiology, maternal-child nursing and few volumes of bound journals. Access to services was purely on printed matters.
Four years after its existence, the library collection significantly increased in number and in varied forms as its growing number of enrollees surged year by year. From mainly books conspicuously and systematically arranged on the shelves, its library holdings now include e- resources such as online journals and books, CD鈥檚 and DVD鈥檚, video tapes, and filmstrips. The library also acquired non print materials such as maps, globe, board games, and posters. It was also the first to subscribe nursing online journal composed of twelve titles.
The CON Library and other satellite libraries in the campus are in WIFI setting. Hence, patrons can access to the internet and other information resources using their own laptops, and other handheld computers. Moreover, computer units are installed inside the library for the use and convenience of the students. The assignment of one additional staff has also expanded its service schedule from its original eight hours to ten hours per day.
