Information Technology Department

The Department of Information Technology aims to produce graduates that are expected to become globally competent and competitive, innovative, socially and ethically responsible computing professionals and capable of contributing to the country's local, regional and national development goals. The department envisioned also to incorporate some unique traits for graduates who shall play the role of supporting the economic growth specially of Mindanao as well as foster peace and development in the area considering that information systems and technology play a vital role in the affairs of government, business, industry, education, and all other sectors of society in general. IT department aims to give students a better understanding of the information literacy fundamentals and tools needed for them to be self-reliant and prepared in the evolving information and knowledge-based society. As a center of development, the department is currently providing students with analytical, interpersonal and technical skills that are essential to solve real-life problems.

Program Objectives

The graduates of the programs should be able to:

• Apply knowledge of computing, science and mathematics and appropriate to the discipline
• Understand the best practices and standards and their applications
• Analyze complex problems, and identify and define the computing requirements appropriate to its solution
• Identify and analyze user needs and take them into account in the selection, creation, evaluation and administration of computer-based systems
• Design, implement, and evaluate computer-based systems, processes, components, or programs to meet desired needs and requirements under various constraint
• Integrate IT-based solutions into the user environment effectively
• Apply knowledge through the use of current techniques, skills, tools and practices necessary to the IT profession
• Function effectively as a member or leader of a development team recognizing the different roles within the team to accomplish a common goal
• Assist in the creation of an effective IT project plan
• Communicate effectively with the computing community and with society at large about complex activities through logical writing, presentations, and clear instructions
• Analyze the local and global impact of computing information technology on individuals, organizations, and society
• Understand professional, ethical, legal, security and social issues and responsibilities in the utilization of information technology

Admission Requirements

1. A graduate of K-12 under the STEM track. However, graduates from other tracks may still be admitted subject to an appropriate bridging program designed by the University.
   • SASE Cut-off Score for Incoming Freshmen
   The SASE cut-off score for incoming freshmen is set by the Department. Other documentary requirements may be prescribed by the Office of Admissions and Scholarship Administration (OASA) and the Office of the Institute Registrar (OIR). In case the quota for a particular semester is not met, students with lower scores, to be decided upon by the department, may be admitted.
2. Transferees from Within and Other 缅北禁地 Campuses
   • Must file an application of admission with the department concerned, which shall rank the application accordingly.
   • The transferee must have a GPA of 2.75 or better and no failing grade in Math
3. Transferees from other schools Transferees from schools other than those belonging to the 缅北禁地 system shall satisfy these requirements:
   • Must pass the admission exam given by the Admissions Office.
   • Must have a GPA of 2.50 or better.
   • Must pass the interview conducted by the Chairman or the committee designated for this purpose.
4. Retention Policies: As provided for in the 缅北禁地 Code of Governance.
5. Fees and Other Payments: These shall be based on approved BOR implementing guidelines and schedule of fees.
