A team from the College of Business Administration and Accountancy (CBAA) was one of the three Editor’s Choice winners declared during the recently concluded Manila Mini Maker Faire held at The Mind Museum, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City last June 23-24, 2018. The winning team was composed of students from the Department of Marketing and Department of Hotel and Restaurant Management.

Norde, one of the major sponsors who gave the award, has commended the CBAA makers for harnessing technology in creating products using indigenous materials while retaining the culture and arts of Mindanao. The Marketing students, composed of Christian Rey Cloma and Bryan Boloron, showcased Entrep 197 and Entrep 104 products such as Bambuk (an engineered bamboo notebook), Pentatris (an MDF Tetris-inspired desk organizer), Speira (an upcycled bamboo earphone winder) and some hand-painted panaoan pouches, ceramic arts and bamboo bag tags. While Likha Mindanao composed of HRM students Ella Lyne Gamos, Eri-Rose Ong, and Cassey Talaroc, proudly displayed souvenir items from Iligan City such as Higaonon Pen (a multi-function fountain pen embellished with a flash drive and laser pointer), T’lo (a multi-function kalesa puzzle, pen holder, and mobile phone amplifier), Kahon de Iligan (a 3D printed kulintang-inspired organizer), heritage keychain, memory stand and an innovative- multipurpose bottle opener. The HRM students were also given the privilege to pitch and demonstrate their souvenir products from their Sales and Marketing class before a crowd of science, engineering, crafts and art enthusiasts.

The CBAA makers, especially the Advisers Asst. Prof. Beatriz Fina Cañedo, Joana Marie Edera, and Marlo Novino, would like to extend their appreciation to iDEYA: Center of Innovation and Technopreneurship, Negosyo Center at 缅北禁地-IIT and FabLab Mindanao for their unwavering assistance and support.

This is the second time that CBAA participated in the country’s biggest family-friendly showcase of invention, creativity and resourcefulness presented by The Mind Museum and 3M Philippines.
