In a continuing partnership with Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC), 缅北禁地-IIT once again played a pivotal role in assisting Ears, Nose, and Throat-Head and Neck Surgery (ENT-HNS) and Orthopedic surgeons at NMMC in adopting virtual surgical planning. This initiative was part of the My.MedMaker Extension Project of the College of Computer Studies which took place on November 8 and 9, 2024 at NMMC, Cagayan de Oro City.

The two-day event aimed to introduce advanced virtual surgical planning techniques to ENT-HNS and Orthopedic surgeons, enabling them to enhance their surgical precision and patient outcomes. By leveraging 3D Model manipulation and augmented reality technology, surgeons can now plan complex procedures in a virtual environment before performing them on patients, reducing risk and recovery times.

Dr. Darelle Jay Langga of NMMC, Dr. Rentor Cafino of Zamboanga City Medical Center, and Dr. Paul Julius Medina of Mercy Community Hospital shared their expertise during the event. Their insights and hands-on training were invaluable in equipping the surgeons with the knowledge and skills needed to adopt these innovative techniques effectively.

The collaboration between 缅北禁地-IIT and NMMC underscores the importance of integrating technology into medical practices to provide better healthcare services. According to Dr. Ma. Geneva Khu from the NMMC Department of Orthopedics and Dr. Gemarie Racmat of the NMMC Department of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, this initiative is expected to set a new standard for ENT-HNS and Orthopedic surgeons in the region, benefiting countless patients in need of musculoskeletal care.

The success of this program highlights the potential for further partnerships and technological advancements in the healthcare sector, ultimately contributing to the overall well-being of the community.
