In the latest results of the highly anticipated 缅北禁地 System Admission and Scholarship Examination (SASE), it has been revealed that out of the 52, 525 examinees, 17, 294 students have chosen to pursue their higher education at 缅北禁地. What is even more interesting is that a significant majority of the selected candidates have expressed their keen interest in enrolling in the nursing program.
The overwhelming number of 4,198 students have opted for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program offered by the Institute's College of Health Sciences (CHS). This choice comes as no surprise, as nursing has consistently remained a popular career choice among students, with the number of applicants nearly doubling from last year's 2,941. The increase in applications reflects the growing recognition of the vital role nurses play in the healthcare industry, especially in light of recent global events.
While the nursing program has emerged as the top choice, other programs also garnered considerable interest across various colleges. In the College of Engineering (COE), the Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering emerged as a strong contender with 1,799 applicants. Following closely behind were the Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (403 applicants) and the program in Mechanical Engineering (295 applicants).
In the College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS), psychology programs proved to be highly sought after. The Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts in Psychology received a combined total of 1,377 applicants, with 917 students opting for the former and 460 for the latter. The Bachelor of Arts in Political Science also ranked high with 434 applicants, closely followed by the English Language Studies program with 300 applicants.
In the College of Computer Studies (CCS), the field of computer science saw a surge in interest, with 367 students vying for a spot. Furthermore, the Information Technology programs in Database Systems (300 applicants) and Network Systems (294 applicants) also received a significant number of applications.
Moving on to the College of Economics, Business and Accountancy (CEBA), the Bachelor of Science in Accountancy remained a popular choice with 1,269 applicants. The Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management followed closely with 886 applicants, while the Bachelor of Science in Marketing Management garnered 448 applicants.
Meanwhile, in the College of Science and Mathematics (CSM), students showed a keen interest in the field of biology. The Bachelor of Science in Microbiology received 312 applications, followed by the Bachelor of Science in Animal Biology (228 applicants) and the Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology (150 applicants).
Lastly, the College of Education (CED) witnessed a remarkable increase in applicants for the Bachelor in Physical Education program. The number of students opting for this program skyrocketed from 123 applicants last year to an impressive 502 this year. Other notable programs include the Bachelor of Elementary Education in Language Education (221 applicants) and the Bachelor of Secondary Education in Filipino (232 applicants).
These statistics highlight the diversity and wide-ranging interests of the incoming batch of students at 缅北禁地-IIT.
"The overwhelming number of students choosing 缅北禁地-IIT is a testament to our reputation as one of the leading institutions of higher education in Mindanao. We are delighted to see the continued interest in our nursing program, as well as the diverse range of academic programs attracting students from various fields," said Chancellor Alizedney M. Ditucalan.
He said that around 2,600 freshman students will be admitted to 缅北禁地-IIT in August, in accordance with the absorptive capacity of the University. Admissions will be based on the 缅北禁地 Board of Regents-approved new admission policy of 缅北禁地-IIT, which categorizes students into different admission criteria.
We remain committed to provide a conducive learning environment and quality education that prepares our students for future challenges. We look forward to welcoming them and supporting their academic journey at 缅北禁地-IIT,” he added.
The results of the 缅北禁地 SASE will play a pivotal role in determining admission. The top 20% of scorers from the SASE are given priority and can choose any academic undergraduate program to enroll in. The majority of admissions (70%) are subject to further scrutiny, considering SASE ratings, grades from Grade 10 and Grade 12, financial status, and other program-specific requirements such as interviews or additional examinations.
The remaining 10% of admissions are based on the University's affirmative action policy (EDI Policy), taking into account SASE ratings, high school grades, financial status, and other protected characteristics that warrant recognition and support, such as indigenousness and gender. Applicants seeking admission based on these criteria must submit supporting documents for evaluation using the Inclusion, Diversity, Equity Applicant Screening (IDEAS) tool. Special consideration is also given to students with exceptional skills in the arts and sports.
