To prepare and gear up the CEBA students for their internship journey, a pre-internship orientation was held in the COE Amphitheater hosted by the Department of Economics and the Department of Business and Innovation on January 12, 2024. The event was participated in by CEBA's 2nd-year BS Entrepreneurship students and 4th-year BSBA Marketing Management, BSBA Business Economics, and BS Economics students.
Students were oriented toward topics such as relationship building, work ethics, sexual harassment, personality development, and proper etiquette. The event started with the opening remarks of Ms. Charlane Gabutan, director of the 缅北禁地-IIT Career Center Office, where she stressed the importance of interns representing the university.
Crucial topics regarding work ethics and anti-sexual harassment in the workplace were discussed by Ms. Emelyn Mordeno. Her empowering words resonated, emphasizing the creation of a safe, inclusive environment in which every individual can thrive. Ms. Mordeno passionately encouraged the interns to speak up, assuring them of the school's unwavering support and commitment to taking appropriate action. By doing so, she inspired confidence and empowered the interns to stand against harassment.
On the other hand, Assoc Prof. Donnavic Dumapias and Asst. Prof. Gilceline Dingding unveiled beauty secrets, sharing a delightful skin and makeup routine that can be easily incorporated into daily life and on how to dress appropriately in the workplace.
Dining etiquette was also introduced by Dr. Felipe Lula Jr., guiding students on proper posture, utensil use, and polite conversation during meals. According to Dr. Lula, t hese charming skills not only enhance a pleasant dining experience but also radiate professionalism and social grace. These are valuable assets in both personal and professional settings.
As the orientation emphasized, success extends beyond personal accomplishments to the relationships built and positive impacts on others. Dr. Safa Manala-o also bid her warmest luck to everyone, as she hopes they will overcome their future endeavors. Interns are inspired to embrace every connection, fostering a culture of support and inclusivity. The overarching message was clear: by prioritizing personal care and cultivating a welcoming environment, these students were poised not just for professional success but for a journey filled with lasting connections, ready to go beyond!
