Prof. Dr. Mylene M. Uy, a faculty member of the Chemistry Department of the College of Science and Mathematics and the Executive Director of the Premier Research Institute of Science and Mathematics (PRISM), delivered an invited paper entitled “Southern Mindanao as a Rich Source of Natural Products” during the Pure and Applied Chemistry International Conference (PACCON 2024) held last January 26-27, 2024, at the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre (BITEC) in Bangkok, Thailand.
PACCON 2024 is under the initiative of the Chemical Society of Thailand. This year’s conference is the 16th which was co-organized by Kasetsart University, and had the theme “Chemistry for Bio-Circular-Green Economy”.
The conference served as a platform for knowledge exchange, collaboration, and groundbreaking discoveries. It was a gathering of some of the brightest minds in the field of chemistry. Throughout the event, the latest advancements, research findings, and practical applications in various branches of chemistry, i.e., from organic chemistry to materials, from analytical chemistry to biochemistry, among others were explored.
An exciting program was curated which featured plenary lectures, informative presentations, and interactive poster sessions. These provided a dynamic environment for networking, fostering new collaborations, and staying abreast of emerging trends in the field.
It was attended by a community of more than 900 chemists, researchers, academics, and industry professionals from 26 countries.
Aside from being an Invited Speaker, Prof. Dr. Uy also served as a member of the Scientific Committee and a Poster Judge in the Natural Products, Biological Chemistry and Chemical Biology session.
