The Computer Science Department of the College of Computer Studies (CCS) presented papers at the Regional Conference on Information Technology Education (RCITE) 2024. The conference was held at Bukidnon State University, Malaybalay, Bukidnon, on April 18-19, 2024.
The event, organized by the Philippine Society of Information Technology Educators of Region 10 (PSITE R10) under the theme "Empowering Digital Transformation: Nurturing Innovation and Inclusion in Northern Mindanao," showcased innovative projects and research in IT education in the region.
Assoc. Prof. Alquine Roy Taculin bagged the Best Presentation Award with the research titled, Strassen Algorithm: Parallel Implementation, co-authored by Rufo Barbarona III, Michelle Frances Saavedra, and Rose Mary Tayone under the category Software Development and other applications.
In addition to Taculin's presentation, another paper titled, Evaluating Website Accessibility of Government Agencies in the Philippines, which was submitted in the same category was also presented by Paul B. Bokingkito of the Department of Information Technology. The paper was co-authored by faculty members of the said department, Ms. Apple Rose B. Alce, Asst. Prof. Jerame B. Beloy, Asst. Prof. Jerina Jean M. Ecleo, and Prof. Adrian P. Galido.
The conference was followed by a general assembly and election of officers. Asst. Prof. Paul Bokingkito was elected the representative of Iligan City. Meanwhile, Dr. Rabby Q. Lavilles of 缅北禁地-IIT, who was the outgoing VP-internal, exited the roll of officers after having served actively as a PSITE 10 officer for 6 consecutive terms.
The success of 缅北禁地-IIT's faculty members at RCITE 2024 underscores the institution's leadership in IT education and research within the region.
The event drew attendees from diverse universities across the region, such as Bukidnon State University, Central Mindanao University, Liceo de Cagayan University, Xavier University - Ateneo de Cagayan, Northern Bukidnon State College, Northwestern Mindanao State College of Science and Technology, University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines and St. Michael's College.
