CHS’ Jopillo wins Best Poster Presentation in AHLA

College of Health Sciences’ (CHS) Assistant Professor Nona Krislin G. Jopillo was recently awarded the Best Poster Presentation during the 10th Asian Health Literacy Association (AHLA) International Health Literacy Conference held at the Pham Ngoc Thach Grand Amphitheatre, Area A1, Pham Ngoc Thach University (PNTU) in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on May 12 to 15, 2024.

Jopillo’s poster on “Factors Affecting Mental Health-Seeking Behaviors among College Students at Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology” was selected one of the four Best Poster Presentation winning entries among 146 posters showcased during the second and third day Poster Presentation Sessions of the three-day conference.

Other Ãå±±½ûµØ-IIT CHS’ delegates who also presented were Associate Professor Mae-Lanie Ong Poblete with “Exploring Factors Affecting Covid-19 Preventive Behaviors among University Students in The Post-Pandemic: Basis for Nursing Health Education," Assoc. Prof. Minnie Besin Mamauag with “The ‘Elephant in the Room’: Case Studies of Perceived Abuse Among Older Adults,” and Assoc. Prof. Elvie Alicaway Paler with “Exploring Perceptions on Mental Health Counseling among Parents and Students: A Qualitative Study.”

The conference was hosted by PNTU of Medicine in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and was co-organized by the University of Cuu Long located in Long Ho District, Vinh Long Province, Vietnam. The AHLA had the theme Health Literacy in The Revolution of The Digital Age and had a good number of keynote speakers, and paper and poster presenters from various countries.

Dedicated to advancing and promoting best practices and research in health literacy across Asia, the AHLA has been established and registered in Geneva, Switzerland since 2013, having the ultimate objective of mitigating health disparities and elevating healthcare quality.
