With the theme: Filipino Nurses: Setting the Course of Health Equity and Holistic Health through Translational Research, the College of Health Sciences (CHS) of the Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology (缅北禁地-IIT) recently concluded its 13th Nursing Research Conference (NRC), co-hosted by CHS Batch Invictus Medicus, on June 5, 2024 held at the College of Health Sciences Hall, 缅北禁地-IIT.
The one day conference highlighted the presentation of a total of twelve selected student researches. The morning session saw the delivery of six Quantitative researches, with the afternoon session having another six Qualitative Researches presented, along with a Digital Poster Presentation and several Parallel sessions showcasing other researches covering Nursing Education, Health Impacting Society, Culture, and Environment, Health Service Delivery, and Nursing Translational Innovations and Research.

The conference was formally opened with words of welcome from CHS Dean Associate Professor Abdullah Junior S. Mangarun, DScN, RN, who expressed his happiness for the good turnout and dubbed the event as an opportunity to learn, share and collaborate.
Assoc. Prof. Boylie A. Sarcina, Faculty of the Department of Philosophy and Humanities, CASS Special Assistant, OVCRE gave the Inspirational Message in behalf of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Enterprise, Dr. Ephrime B. Metillo, who was delighted to share his thoughts on the remarkable contributions made by Filipino nurses.
Metillo said that Filipino nurses serve as the backbone of the global healthcare system, as agents of change in today's healthcare environment, who are distinguished by their dedication to translational research, health equity, and holistic health, and emerge as champions of healthcare worldwide.
Keynote Speaker CHS Assoc. Prof. Neil M. Martin, PhD, MAN, MBE, RN in his speech also emphasized the importance of being a nurse and said that “You cannot be an efficient and effective nurse if you don’t have the right values, specially the caring qualities and values of a professional Filipino nurse. It has something to do with our responsibility and accountability in the critical path of Nursing Research as a process,” he added.

Panel mentors for the parallel sessions also included guests Marigene M. Tandoc, MN, RN and Ernest Nid Abuemo, CNN, RN of the Don Gregorio T. Lluch Memorial Hospital.
The Conference Rationale was given by CHS senior Mary Carmelle B. Mananquil, 13th NRC Overall Chairperson, with Assoc. Prof. Gloria Shiela E. Coyoca, CHS Research Coordinator giving the closing remarks. CHS seniors Mr. Jhon Cyril B. Miñoza and Mr. Mc Nhill S. Edaño acted as Master of Ceremonies.
