To symbolically mark the transition of second-year nursing students from theoretical classroom learning to hands-on clinical practice, the 19th Capping, Badge Investiture, and Candle Lighting Ceremonies was held on September 13, 2024, gathering together 129 student candidates at the gymnasium.

The College of Health Sciences (CHS) Dean, Dr. Abdullah Junior S. Mangarun opened the program with an inspiring message, congratulating the students and reminding them of the values they must uphold and the responsibilities that they will carry as they receive their caps and badges.

This year’s ceremonies also welcomed an alumnus, Michael Zaimyr Khalif P, Guinta, RN, as the guest speaker where he shared valuable pieces of advice and life lessons to the students. In his speech, he reminded them of their agency and the power that they have to define themselves and not let other people dictate their paths.

The event celebrated the students' readiness to enter the clinical phase of their schooling, with the cap representing their new role as student nurses, the lamp symbolizing their commitment to compassionate care and the light of knowledge, and the badge signifying their formal entry into the nursing community and adherence to its standards.
